Gold and Grey Fractured Rock Wall

This is an image that is impossible to properly convey through a website image. The actual print, especially in the 30x40" size, is full of richness and a complex cohesiveness that creates a dramatic abstract image. There is a creative tension between the black shadow lines, the rich golds and orange mineral colors and the weathered knobbiness of the granite wall. Even the crystal grains of the rock are visible in the larger size print. It's a good example of why I use an 8x10" camera, since all of the fine details are actually an integral part of the composition.   To me, this image reminds me that life and light fills the world around us, even the solid rock walls of the earth itself.
