Forest Pond |
| This image is a recording of one of those rare moments when everything comes together to create an exceptional image. Many of my best images have an element of mystery to them, including this one. To me, there's a feeling that we have been allowed a secret peek into a private, enchanted world, one filled with grace and radiant life. It appears to me almost like a scene from a fairy tale, where almost anything might happen (and usually does). It's such a blessing that such places (and images) exist and how they happen is a mystery unto itself. When such events occur, I often feel as much as a spectator to the process as a participant and there's no way I can fully explain my feelings and experiences during those times. In this image, all is still except for the rustling of the tall green rushes. The dark water surrounds the glowing island, with mysterious reflections and hints of details beneath the surface. The more one studies the area of submerged grasses, the more mysterious it becomes; with the complex interweaving of reflections, shadows and new green growth. The upper right corner reveals the edge of a wild blueberry bush, laden with berries which are waiting to ripen. The only visual clue that this is in a forest is given with the vague reflections in the water, showing mere hints of the surrounding trees. Deep, mysterious and peaceful; this image continually offers me surprises every time I come back to it: a constant source of wonder and amazement. Is it any wonder I'm in love with it? |
