Dandelion Field, Alaska |
| Even the southeastern panhandle of Alaska gets almost 24 hours of daylight in the height of springtime. These Dandelions were the biggest I've ever seen; at least 12" tall, or taller and without a blemish. Most still had their seeds attached and there was very little wind. The day was somewhat overcast, so the white seedheads picked up the soft light and had a glow to each one, like small lanterns. Even the blades of grass and the Dandelion stalks have an interior glow. The photograph reminds me of the exuberance and vitality of life, with the thousands of Dandelions seeds ready to take off at the slightest breeze, flying to wherever life takes them. |
